This time, let’s change things up a bit and introduce the sauna at the campsite!! The campsite is called “HIDEAWAY sunset camp.” It’s a popular campsite located in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
The charm of this campsite is undoubtedly its private beach!! You can overlook the area known as the Genkai Sea. In the summer, you can swim in the sea, and it also serves as a refreshing cold bath after enjoying the sauna, which I’ll introduce later. Being able to enjoy a cold bath in this environment… Just imagining it is amazing, isn’t it?
The location is Itoshima City in Fukuoka Prefecture. The nearest station is called Ooiri Station, and it’s about a 10-minute walk from there. However, if you’re coming to visit Itoshima for sightseeing, I recommend using a car.
Itoshima City might not be well-known to foreigners, but it’s a popular destination for a short trip from Fukuoka. It’s also popular as a relocation destination from urban areas due to its peaceful atmosphere. While it doesn’t have large bustling city centers, it has charming shops and spots scattered around where you can enjoy yourself all day long. And let’s not forget about the seafood!! There are many restaurants that serve fantastic seafood bowls like the one in the picture above!
Let’s take a look at the “HIDEAWAY sunset camp”!! This campsite is actually handmade by the owner and their friends. The handmade feel in various places adds a charming touch, doesn’t it? It’s truly a space packed with things the owner loves, where adults can also enjoy themselves and feel like kids again.
By the way, since it’s a campsite, you can of course enjoy camping there. They also offer plans where you can enjoy camping without bringing your own gear, so be sure to consider it! It will surely become a wonderful memory for you!! Since there are many rules for camping, let’s make sure to check them thoroughly!
And here we have the sauna located at the back of the campsite!! I’ve never seen a log house like this before!! Each log is incredibly thick, making it incredibly impressive!! The monument on the roof is also quite cool~. By the way, you can also use the sauna separately without camping.
Here’s the changing room. Towels are also provided, so you’re good to go without bringing anything. It has a beautiful wooden interior.

Ta-da! The interior looks incredibly cool!! This is definitely going to feel amazing. Since the sauna operates on a time-based rental system, you can take any position you like without worrying about other people! I personally recommend the upper level!! It warms up your whole body, so it’s fantastic. The temperature tends to drop near the entrance, so try finding your favorite spot.
The stove is a large wood stove. Sauna stones are stacked generously, providing plenty of power during löyly! The water for löyly is infused with pine leaves, and the moment you pour it, the scent of pine fills the sauna room. It’s so relaxing.
You can see the sea from the large window. It’s blissful to gaze at the outdoor scenery while listening to the crackling of the burning wood.
After warming up sufficiently in the sauna, it’s time for the cold bath~~!! Behind the sauna room is a cold bath using groundwater!! You can overlook the sea. This cold bath is of course nice, but if you’ve come to “HIDEAWAY sunset camp”………….
Splash into the sea right in front of you!! When you’re floating in the sea, cooling off your body, you’ll feel like you’ve become a part of the Earth. If you come here, definitely give the post-sauna sea dive a try!!
And the fun doesn’t end here. The relaxation spot after the cold bath is also amazing!! The resting spot is none other than the roof of the sauna hut!! There are reclining chairs on the roof~. When you recline the backrest, you’ll feel like you’ve entered another world.
