sayu kamogawa(Kyoto city,Kyoto)

Thank you for your patience. Once again, we’ve discovered an absolutely amazing sauna to introduce to you!!

This time, it’s finally a sauna in that famous city. A city that every traveler who loves Japan knows about. When it comes to sightseeing in Japan, it’s Tokyo and…? Yes! Kyoto!!!!!!!!!

Today, I’d like to introduce an incredible private sauna from my beloved city of Kyoto: “sayu kamogawa”!

Even though Kyoto City in Kyoto Prefecture is quite large, “sayu kamogawa” is conveniently located near Kiyomizu-Gojo Station. This area offers easy access to the popular tourist spots like Kiyomizu-dera Temple and the Gion district, making it an excellent location!!

It’s just a 3-minute walk from Keihan’s Kiyomizu-Gojo Station!! And what stands out the most is the river flowing right in front of it!! This is the Kamo River, a symbol of Kyoto City!! It’s an essential element to feel the atmosphere of Kyoto. It’s even part of the name “sayu kamogawa”.

The white building along the river is “sayu kamogawa”! To the left, you can see the Kamo River. The scenery of this small path exudes a very Japanese atmosphere. It has a charm that you won’t find in newer residential areas, and I absolutely love it. Please be sure to enjoy this atmosphere as well!

The building of “sayu kamogawa” is a renovated “machiya,” a traditional Kyoto townhouse. The image above shows what a “machiya” typically looks like. These houses are characterized by their narrow frontage and deep interior, and the building’s design incorporates this feature. The ingenuity to create a rich space even within a narrow area can be seen throughout, making it a very charming piece of architecture.

Now, let’s take a look inside and see what kind of space awaits us!!

Wow!!! This is absolutely stunning!! They’ve made excellent use of the machiya’s depth! You can see two bathtubs at the front: one is a cold bath using groundwater, and the other is a 42-degree Celsius hot bath! The way the light streams in from the atrium is perfect!!

Here are the details for “sayu kamogawa”↓↓↓↓↓

Here’s the view from the sauna side. The materials for the walls and ceiling are also wonderful~~. It seems to be made from earthen wall materials. This forms the foundation of the atmosphere in this space. As mentioned earlier, the cold bath here uses pumped groundwater. Kyoto is also famous for its delicious water. A cold bath with groundwater from such a place!!! You can have high expectations!

Here is the sauna room!! The glass walls give it a stylish look!! The interior is also covered in wood, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. It looks like a perfect place to work up a good sweat.

You can also do löyly!! Since it’s a private sauna, you can do löyly whenever you like. Just looking at these sauna stones makes me sweat.

Now, with your body heated up from the löyly, head to the second floor of this building!!!

The second floor consists simply of an open-air relaxation space!! The ceiling retains the old wooden structure exposed, which adds to the ambiance. It blends the charm of old-fashioned design with modern aesthetics.

Follow your instincts and head to the open terrace with abandon〜〜〜〜〜!!!

Here is the outdoor relaxation space!! Isn’t it just amazing?? An open-air relaxation space overlooking the Kamo River. It’s something every Japanese sauna enthusiast dreams of!! Cooling down your heated body on this tatami terrace while enjoying the flow of the river, the pleasant breeze on your skin, and watching people strolling along the riverbank is pure bliss. It’s an experience you can only have in Kyoto!

Depending on your mood, indoor relaxation can be just as wonderful. Inside, there’s also a space with tatami mats, so you can even lie down comfortably.

This is a wonderful sauna facility where you can experience not only saunas but also the symbols of Kyoto such as the Kamo River and machiya townhouses. Since it’s a private sauna, you’ll need to register as a member via the reservation page on their website and make a reservation. It’s all in Japanese, so it might be a bit challenging, but it’s definitely worth it!! Once you’ve made a reservation, you can enter the facility without encountering other people! Be sure to give it a try!!
